Carré Consultancy supported St. Eanswythe’s Primary School in securing Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) support to replace life-expired pitched roof coverings.

The works were essential to resolve persistent leaks, safeguard health and safety, and prevent escalating damage to the Victorian school buildings. Delivered within a conservation area, the scheme was designed to achieve compliance, energy efficiency gains, and long-term value.

Carré Consultancy was commissioned to undertake a detailed condition survey of Kings Hall, a prominent civic and cultural building in Herne Bay.

The hall is of significant heritage and community value, having served as a venue for public gatherings, performances and events for many decades.

The survey was designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of the building’s current condition, identify risks to safety and fabric, and support forward planning for remedial and improvement works.

The original 1938 Grade II listed school building, designed by W. H. Robinson, is characterised by its modernist reinforced concrete frame and continuous steel-framed fenestration. Many of the original Crittal windows remain, though some areas have been subject to secondary glazing or modern replacements.

The project aimed to consolidate library, church, and community functions within one modern, multi-purpose hub following the planned demolition of the existing community buildings to enable residential redevelopment.

Kent County Council commissioned Carré Consultancy to explore the co-location of the Registrar Service within the Grade II listed Ramsgate Library.

The proposal aimed to adapt the first floor and part of the ground floor to provide modern registrar facilities, including wedding ceremony rooms, offices, and a bridal suite, whilst retaining library operations. External enhancements were also considered, such as a landscaped photo area and fencing to safeguard privacy.

Carré Consultancy was appointed to conduct a full commercial building survey of the RSPCA’s Whitstable shop. The survey provided a comprehensive assessment of the property’s condition, statutory compliance, and risks associated with future occupation and maintenance.

Situated in a Conservation Area, the property combines historic features with later alterations, requiring careful attention to both technical performance and regulatory obligations.

Lydd Primary School’s heating system, serving multiple teaching blocks, had reached the end of its serviceable life. The ageing oil and gas boilers, together with corroded pipework and inefficient controls, posed risks of system failure and escalating maintenance costs. Carré Consultancy were appointed by OCMAT to design, procure and manage a full system replacement, with a focus on efficiency, compliance, and long-term sustainability.

Faversham Municipal Charities manage a historic estate of almshouses providing affordable accommodation within Faversham’s Conservation Area. Since 2023, Carré Consultancy has been commissioned annually to carry out structured inspections across a phased list of residential properties and shared facilities.

These inspections provide trustees with an independent and consistent assessment of building condition, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards while protecting the long-term heritage of the Grade II Listed site.

Ashford Borough Council appointed Carré Consultancy to act as their Building Owner’s Surveyor for the proposed demolition of the Park Mall Shopping Centre and adjoining multi-storey car park.

This high-profile town centre scheme is the first phase in a wider regeneration programme, with the cleared site to be temporarily resurfaced as a public car park ahead of future redevelopment.

Godinton Primary School identified serious risks posed by Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) roof structures within key teaching and communal areas.

Carré Consultancy was appointed to support the school through two successive phases of remediation, initially under the DfE’s Urgent Capital Support (UCS) fund and later under the government’s 2024 RAAC Grant Scheme.

Across both phases, we delivered technical, contractual and project management services to ensure safe removal of all RAAC and reinstatement of compliant, energy-efficient structures, while enabling the school to remain operational throughout.
