With concurrent roofing and cladding works progressing through winter months, maintaining installation quality, weather protection, and programme alignment was critical. Early inspections identified isolated issues including over-torqued fixings, minor side-lap and panel damage, misaligned drip trays, and surface staining caused by adverse weather during installation.
Additionally, structural and wind-loading calculations were outstanding during early stages, and the project required diligent coordination between the main contractor, envelope installer, and Lidl’s construction consultant to ensure design conformity and compliance before sign-off.
Carré Consultancy conducted three detailed inspections across key project milestones, verifying workmanship and installation integrity against manufacturer and client standards. Working collaboratively with the main contractor (Wright Morgan) and specialist installer (SF Roofing & Cladding Services), all identified issues were raised, logged, and monitored through rectification.
Follow-up inspections confirmed the realignment of fixings and drip trays, repair of surface damage, and cleaning and certification of the roof and cladding systems. Technical feedback and photographic evidence were issued to the client and contractor team after each visit, maintaining transparency and ensuring proactive resolution of defects prior to Practical Completion.
The roofing and cladding systems were completed to a high standard, on programme and in accordance with Lidl’s national technical requirements. Carré’s structured inspection process safeguarded quality, confirmed compliance with ArcelorMittal specifications, and mitigated post-handover risks.
Through effective communication and collaboration, the project achieved full sign-off without delay, delivering a watertight, thermally efficient, and visually consistent building envelope that met Lidl’s expectations for durability, appearance, and performance.
