The primary challenge involved assessing the installation of a complex overclad roofing system while maintaining compliance with building control requirements despite the omission of new insulation. Additional risks related to inconsistent use of vapour control layers and butyl tapes, potential for water ingress, and ensuring workmanship met expected tolerances. The site also presented logistical considerations—ongoing installation activities and environmental sensitivities, including nesting birds protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.
Carré Consultancy conducted a detailed on-site inspection supported by photographic documentation and cross-referenced against Euroclad installation guidance. The inspection covered sheet alignment, fixing quality, sealing details, and interface conditions at ridges, gutters, and abutments. Our report provided technical commentary and practical remedial advice, including:-
Our inspection concluded that the roofing works were of generally good quality, with isolated workmanship issues addressed promptly by the contractor. The structured inspection process ensured early identification and rectification of potential weatherproofing defects, safeguarding long-term roof performance. Carré’s clear technical reporting, constructive collaboration with DB Industrial Roofing and Havercroft Construction, and proactive communication strengthened site quality control and client confidence.
This project demonstrates Carré Consultancy’s value in delivering expert, independent verification of roofing and cladding installations — ensuring compliance, durability, and safety across commercial refurbishment schemes.
